Board Ready Burke is a free three-week program that gives you everything you need to serve confidently on a nonprofit board. Whether you've never considered board service or you're ready to step up but don't know where to start—this program is for you.
What You'll Get:
Expert training from WNC Nonprofit Pathways on board governance, responsibilities, and best practices
Free dinner at every session
Free childcare for parents
Certificate of completion to showcase your civic leadership training
Direct connections to local nonprofits actively seeking board members
Program Details:
When: Three Tuesday evenings in February 2026: February 3rd, 10th, and 17th (5:30-7:30 PM); February 24th reserved for inclement weather
Where: Morganton Community House (120 N King St, Downtown Morganton)
Cost: FREE (funded by a Trust for Civic Life grant from The Industrial Commons)

On February 17th, celebrate your achievement at a certificate ceremony, then participate in a unique "speed dating" event where you'll meet representatives from local nonprofits looking for passionate board members like you. It's your chance to find the perfect fit and start making an impact!
