Rules & regulations

What is the grand prize?

One person will win a brand new white 2024 Hyundai Santa Cruz donated by Paramount Hyundai Valdese!

How much to enter?

  • You must make at least a donation of $100 to be entered to win.

  • A donation of $100 is equal to one entry. $200 = 2 entries, $500 = 5 entries and so on.

Who is eligible?

  • Anyone with a valid driver’s license and proof of insurance, aged 18 years or older, who makes a single donation of $100 or more to Burke County United Way (BCUW) either pledged through payroll deduction through a BCUW facilitated workplace campaigns or direct donation.

  • All qualified donors interested in eligibility for the car giveaway MUST fill out and sign a Car Giveaway Opt-In Form (which includes attesting that you read through all Rules & Regulations) along with donating to be entered into the drawing.

  • Donors who give between November 29th, 2023 and December 3rd, 2024 are eligible for car giveaway entry in 2024. (The last day to be eligible is 1BurkeGives Day - December 3, 2024)

  • Burke County United Way reserves the right to determine the validity of all entries.

Who is not eligible?

  • Eligibility excludes BCUW staff, BCUW Board, the associated Accounting Firm, and their immediate family members living in the same household.

  • A donor can choose to opt-out of participating in the car giveaway. Opt-out is based upon NOT completing the Paramount Car Giveaway Form OR if a donor previously completed the Paramount Car Giveaway Form, by sending an email to info@bcuw.org requesting to be removed from the giveaway.

How does the drawing work?

  • The completed online Opt-In Forms are added directly to a digital spreadsheet shared with the Accounting Firm. Drawings will be conducted by an independent accounting firm to certify finalists. The firm donates their time as an in-kind contribution.

  • The Accounting Firm will conduct the digital randomizer process selecting finalists and provide BCUW with a certification. A BCUW representative(s) may be present at the event but does not take part in the digital randomizer drawing process.

  • The drawing for the 12 unique finalists will occur on the day immediately following 1BurkeGives, for 2024, the date will be December 4, 2024.

  • Donors who contribute more than $100 will receive multiple entries, which increases their opportunity to be selected as a Finalist. However, even if a donor has multiple entries, they can only be chosen as a Finalist one time. In summary, the more entries a donor has, the better their chance of being selected as a Finalist, but there is a limit of one Finalist selection per donor regardless of how many entries they have.

What will happen at the car giveaway event?

The car giveaway event will take place on (Date and time TBA - Early to Mid December) at Paramount Hyundai Valdese in Valdese, NC. Lunch will be provided to all in attendance. All Finalists must be present at the Final Event to maintain eligibility. Each finalist will be given a key to try unlocking the winning car door; only one key will be the winning key. The finalist with the working key will be the winner!

Finalists

  • All 12 finalists grant the Burke County United Way and Paramount Automotive the use of their name and photograph in all communication and publicity materials.

  • After each finalist is drawn, BCUW verifies the donor pledge which includes any related workplace Human Resources Department to verify that a finalist has continuously made their payroll deduction pledge. Mistakes may occur, and an employee may have inadvertently filled out the car entry form and did not pledge the required $100. After verification that the finalist meets the required eligibility, a call will be made to the employee to notify them that they have been selected as a finalist.

  • Finalists’ information will be forwarded to local media outlets as well as shared through the organization’s social media platforms. 

  • For any finalist that results through a workplace campaign, we invite top management and the Employee Campaign Coordinator (ECC) to attend the Final Event.

  • Finalists may invite a couple of family/friends to attend the event.  

The Winner

The car giveaway winner will be photographed and featured in local media and BCUW marketing over the next year. The winner will be required to pay all applicable taxes, title, and registration fees relating to the transaction and must pay their pledge in full to BCUW by December 31. Prior to taking possession of the vehicle, the winner must have a valid driver’s license and be able to provide valid proof of auto insurance to BCUW and Paramount Hyundai Valdese.
