Our most pressing challenges are interwoven.
We surveyed our community in 2020 to decide our three focus areas for the next 4 years, and the answer was clear:
the top needs are in housing stability, self-sufficiency, and*A.L.I.C.E. families.
* Who is A.l.i.c.e.?
ALICE stands for “Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed.” These are families who work and still have to make difficult financial decisions everyday.

Self-Sufficiency
We seek to empower individuals and families to develop plans and goals to move from surviving to thriving through the funding of financial wellness programs, small loan programs, and housing/utility deposit programs.

Housing & Homelessness
Through collaboration with other community organizations, we strive to increase affordable housing in Burke County by funding workforce housing construction projects and certifying families for eligibility, as well as negating homelessness by addressing our homeless populations needs together with community partners.

Youth Success & Childcare
Our Childcare Subsidy Program works to cover the cost of before school, after school, and summer childcare for low-income, working families. We collaborate with local organizations to establish projects that support early learning & family engagement.
