Big Brothers/Big Sisters
- Develops children's self-esteem and character
through volunteer mentoring programs and friendships to help them achieve their
highest potential. Serves children 6-14 years of age, primarily from single
parent families. Trained staff screen all applicants thoroughly before matching
them with waiting children, and consistent agency support is given to the
volunteer, child, and child's parents/guardian.

Burke Council on Alcohol and Chemical Dependency
- Focuses on education, prevention, and rehabilitation in the field of
alcoholism and chemical dependency. Over 4,000 calls a year provide assistance,
while the Student Assistance Program assists over 700 middle and high schools
students each year.

- Provides a temporary home with a work requirement for adult males recovering

target group is those in danger of being forced into a nursing facility because

crisis hotline, a safe shelter for women and children who are homeless due to

Repay - Just Girls Program -
Just Girls is a program component of Repay, Inc.
serving girls ages 11-17 with a gender specific group counseling and skills
building program. There is no fee for this program. The Just Girls group meets
Tuesday afternoons at Burke Mission Station.

The Outreach Center -
Provides direct food assistance to hungry families and bulk food
assistance to service and relief organizations through the Outreach Food
Distribution Center; offers adult basic education, GED preparation, employment
skills education, learning-skills improvement, computer literacy, and English as
a second language through the Fresh Start Education Center; provides clothing
and household items through the Fresh Look Clothing Center; conducts food stamp
program outreach; conducts diet and nutrition education and exercise classes;
provides crisis assistance and agency referrals to families and individuals in
