American Red Cross - Provides 24-hour aid to victims of fires and other disasters, armed forces emergency services, blood donation collections, CPR, First Aid and Lifeguard classes, and disaster preparedness education.

Big Brothers/Big Sisters - Develops children's self-esteem and character through volunteer mentoring programs and friendships to help them achieve their highest potential.  Serves children 6-14 years of age, primarily from single parent families.  Trained staff screen all applicants thoroughly before matching them with waiting children, and consistent agency support is given to the volunteer, child, and child's parents/guardian.

Burke Council on Alcohol and Chemical Dependency - Focuses on education, prevention, and rehabilitation in the field of alcoholism and chemical dependency.  Over 4,000 calls a year provide assistance, while the Student Assistance Program assists over 700 middle and high schools students each year.

Burke County Literacy Council - Teaches adults and their families to read and/or improve their literacy skills and to instill a commitment to life-long learning and trains volunteers to teach reading or improving basic literacy skills.

Burke United Christian Ministries - Provides community soup kitchen, financial assistance to the needy and those in crisis with clothing and/or food. Operates transitional housing program for homeless families who need assistance with housing.

Consumer Credit Counseling - Provides help to end debt problems.  Services include debt management, budget planning, financial evaluation, consumer education, and community education, which allows families to regain financial stability.

East Burke Christian Ministries - Is a crisis assistance agency, serving residents of East Burke, helping with food, clothes, and financial assistance on a temporary basis.

Flynn Christian Fellowship Home - Provides a temporary home with a work requirement for adult males recovering from substance abuse who are capable of becoming sober, self-supporting citizens.  Treatment involves personal counseling and AA programs.

Foothills Service Project - Is a Christian home repair ministry established for the purpose of assisting persons in making houses dry, safe and warm.  The target group is those in danger of being forced into a nursing facility because of the condition of their home.

Good Samaritan Clinic - Is a Christian ministry providing free health care including clinic, medications, dental care, mental health and spiritual support to Burke County residents who are without government assistance, private insurance, or the financial resources to afford such care.

Options, Inc. - Provides intervention and support services, such as a 24 hour crisis hotline, a safe shelter for women and children who are homeless due to domestic violence, court advocacy, community education programs, and counseling to victims of abuse.

Phoenix Group Homes, Inc. - Serves boys and girls, ages 10 to 17 (in two homes) who are in danger of being institutionalized and works with their families to solve long-term problems to keep the family together.

Repay - Just Girls Program - Just Girls is a program component of Repay, Inc. serving girls ages 11-17 with a gender specific group counseling and skills building program.  There is no fee for this program. The Just Girls group meets Tuesday afternoons at Burke Mission Station.

The Outreach Center - Provides direct food assistance to hungry families and bulk food assistance to service and relief organizations through the Outreach Food Distribution Center; offers adult basic education, GED preparation, employment skills education, learning-skills improvement, computer literacy, and English as a second language through the Fresh Start Education Center; provides clothing and household items through the Fresh Look Clothing Center; conducts food stamp program outreach; conducts diet and nutrition education and exercise classes; provides crisis assistance and agency referrals to families and individuals in need.
